MY ‘must have’ dish whenever I order Indian is butter chicken.
That may make me boring, a butter chicken connoisseur or someone who knows what they like, but whatever the case Bengal’s popular dish did not disappoint.
Stepping out of my comfort zone, along with my butter chicken loving friend, we also tried the lamb korma and goat special.
The chicken was worth going back for, the korma impressive and the special literally melted in my mouth – I never usually use that phrase unless talking about ice cream.
Many more melting moments are set to come with Bengal’s Goan chefs Mervyn and Melwyn hosting traditional Goan specials every Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
This will include different entrees, mains and desserts each week that aren’t usually on the menu.
I may just have to go back for seconds and broaden my Goan horizon.
The usual extensive menu will still be available, which incorporates 10 entrees, a variety of traditional beef, lamb, seafood, chicken and vegetarian dishes as well as dessert.
After tucking into garlic naan and ladles of pilau rice, the thought of dessert was too much for our stomachs to digest but Bengal was blooming brilliant.
