Are There Too Many Celebrity Chefs These Days

With the second season of Master Chef coming to a close, I can’t help but notice the large increase of chefs popping their heads up on television classing themselves as ‘celebrity chefs’.

It seems that all it takes to become a celebrity chef these days is the ability to hold up a carrot in front of a camera and mumble a few words about a leading supermarket selling the said carrot at a bargain price.

It’s obvious that you require no real talent or cooking skills and you probably don’t even need to be a real chef.

So what I ask you today is “are there too many celebrity chefs these days?” Let’s all remember the real reason that chefs are on television.

It’s to show you ways of cooking, whether simple or complicated, and to guide you to try different things yourself to either enhance your cooking skills or to even create some.

It’s not to show off the flash brand new triple-tie triple-strength garbage bags or the brand new ultra soak paper towel.

Some chefs are too focused on the limelight and becoming a celebrity rather than the real reason for becoming a chef in the first place which is the passion and dedication of putting together great food and putting smiles on people’s faces.

Let’s get back on track before it gets way out of control and before ‘celebrity cheffing’ becomes everyone’s second job. If you want fame and fashion, become a rock star and stay out of the kitchen.
