KNOWN for its extensive selection of fresh produce sold under the recognisable “big top” in Bibra Lake, proprietor John Hong wants people to know there is now more than meets the eye to the newly rejuvenated Stock Road Central markets.
After a blaze in December 2005 gutted the main building, causing an estimated $1.2 million damage, the market operated at partial capacity, continuing to sell its fruit and veg each weekend for the past six years while Mr Hong slowly rebuilt inside.
It now boasts a factory-direct sofa showroom, timber flooring shop and café open seven days per week, along with an Asian cuisine buffet, fresh produce and flower market open from Friday to Sunday.
Mr Hong, who has worked in the business for 20 years, said he was pleased with the result.
“I feel so far so good,” he said.
“Before it was a market and now it is Stock Road Central, with a lot more to offer – the place is fresh and styled very differently to before.
“The food in this region is good quality and a good price, so this is now a lot more exciting for customers.”
