THE CLOVERDALE Jacaranda Community Centre is looking for book donations for Christmas hampers for local Aboriginal families.

Santa’s sack has been left in the Ruth Faulkner Public Library for people to donate new or good-condition second-hand books.

City of Belmont Mayor Glenys Godfrey said the book drive encouraged local families to share in the joy of reading and assist the community to increase their literary skills.

“Inspiring children to read books can be a difficult task,” she said.

“The City is pleased to provide an opportunity to highlight the role of the community in the development of children.”

Book donations can be made in the Ruth Faulkner Library at the Belmont Civic Centre until December 23.

For more information call the City’s leisure, art and cultural services officer on 9477 7409.
