RORY Mandy, of Nedlands, donates any blood product needed to help provide what is most in demand.

Over the next month, the Red Cross Blood Service is calling on all willing and able Super Donors to make a donation.

Plasma and platelets are each processed into lifesaving medical products to treat cancer and trauma patients, unborn babies, and burns victims.

More than 370,000 of these donations are required this year, with this number expected to double over the next decade.

Mr Mandy is among a growing league of donors taking their life-saving work very seriously.

“I’m one person, I can’t save the world. But blood donation is a simple way to help save lives, and by donating plasma and platelets I can save more lives,” he said.

“You never know who will need your blood, but by giving whatever is needed most I know my donation will help someone who desperately needs it.”

Red Cross Blood Service spokesperson Jessica Willet said whether it was a whole blood donation, plasma or platelet donation, a Super Donor was ready to act.

“Super Donors like Rory show a special kind of courage, they make time to help strangers whenever they are called upon,” she said. To donate, call 13 14 95 to arrange an appointment.
