FIVE artists from Perth will be in Italy for the next couple of weeks, taking part in an international watercolour exhibition and competition.

Last year, the Watercolour Society of WA received an invitation to the Italian Watercolour Society’s third event in Bellagio, Lake Como, which will run from April 22-May 6.

Five paintings from the local society’s members will be included in an exhibition of 100 works from Italy and several other countries, and the watercolourists will take part in an en plein air (open air) competition on the shores of Lake Como.

Cass Gartner, from Wembley, left early last Wednesday, and president Lucy Papalia, who lives in Carine, took off on Friday.

The art will remain on display at Bellagio Tower Arts until May 6, and be reprinted in a catalogue.
