THE City of Wanneroo honoured some of its most hard working residents with Australia Day awards on Tuesday.

Girrawheen high school student Goce Siljanovski received the Charles Searson Award for young people.

Goce was a school prefect and excelled in the United Nations Association mock general assembly as well as representing Australia as part of the Macedonian folklore ensemble.

Marcia Dinnie won the Australia Day award for her volunteer work with the elderly in Wanneroo.

The community group award went to the Wanneroo Agricultural Society for organising the centennial Wanneroo Show last year.
