THE rain cleared and allowed 70 riders to compete last weekend on the 28km Paterson-Corio-Lakes Road triangle.
A-grade was away first, but most unusually, the theoretically slower B-grade riders caught them.
Once joined, neither grade had the horsepower to get away from the other, so they intermingled and finished together, leaving the officials to sort out the results.
Phil Deisel won the A-grade event, with Ian McLurg and Dave Berglund following.
Visiting rider Mark Hindley took out the B-grade event, with Colin Rose second and visitor Matthew Wardyner third.
In the C-grade event, Thomas Breen broke away from the bunch 12km before the finish and rode on his own to win, with Craig McDonald and Geoff Marshall taking places.
Rob Ramirez, followed by Dave Mitton and Don Griffin, won the D-grade race in a fast sprint finish.
Bruce Berrington took out the E-grade race with a convincing ride, repeating his Serpentine effort of a fortnight ago, and he now heads to D-grade.
Tony Ridgley and Evan Shapley were second and third.
The juniors rode a single lap along with escorts, coach Murray Coombs and Daniel Gray.
Harry Lee-Kelly won the sprint, with Ethan McConnachie and Todd Brown close behind.
