NEWMAN Knights Hockey Club women’s players are looking forward to a big season in 2012 as they hope to follow on from a successful 2011 season, in which all senior women’s and junior girls’ grades made the finals and won two premierships.
Pre-season training has been going since December and as head coach I have been pleased with the progress so far in the build-up to the start of the season in early April.
We have been working hard on the training track and over the weekend had our first trial match of the year, coming away with a solid 2-2 draw running over the top of our opposition.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but I am confident we are tracking well and 2012 is going to be another big year for the women’s division at Newman Knights.
There has been a big recruitment drive through the summer months with between eight and 15 new players joining the club for 2012.
If you are still interested in playing hockey this season, visit www.newmanknights.com.au or come down to training on Monday nights from 8-9pm at UWA Turf.
