UWA have propelled themselves into the top four on the Premier Grade competition ladder beating Rockingham 36-7 in a dominating five tries-to-one performance at McGillivray Oval at the weekend.
It was evenly matched for much of the first half with neither side able to break through the opposition line but UWA found their rhythm and scored at the 20-minute mark.
Rockingham were ill disciplined at the breakdown and UWA capitalised on their opportunities.
The Uni backs, Aidan Higo, Grant Hardwick, Rory McCarthy, Christian Joubert and Luke Burton, bagged a try each with Burton adding an additional 11 points to his side’s score with four conversions and a penalty goal.
Rockingham were held scoreless until 15 minutes before the end of play when they broke through the tight Uni defence.
Competition heavyweights Nedlands have sent out a warning to their opposition as the team to beat in 2012 after they took care of Associates 22-13 and remain undefeated at the top of the ladder after round three.
Cottesloe claimed their second win of the season with a four-try bonus-point victory over Kalamunda, 25-12, at Harvey Field.
In other games, Wests-Subiaco jumped into second place on the ladder when they notched a 27-21 win over Perth-Bayswater and Palmyra ended Wanneroo’s unbeaten start to the season defeating them 20-12.
