Naughtical but nice

NAUTICAL fashions with a hint of Parisian panache are hitting the shops as a strong theme for autumn. Stripes are everywhere, from T-shirts to dresses, in classic blends of navy and white or cheery variations in red and cream.

For an updated take on traditional maritime striped jerseys, pair with faded grey skinny jeans for a cool contemporary look. High waisted shorts in black offer a great alternative to long pants and can be worn into the colder months over opaque tights, teamed with a striped top.

Accessories are an integral part of the effortless French style, from quirky charm necklaces to cameo pendants.

Add a splash of colour to formal stripes with a chic red knit beret and skinny belt.

If you dare to take the seafaring look the whole nautical mile, go for a skull print scarf and a naval-style jacket

French women are renowned for their effortless style.

To achieve just the right amount of Parisian flair:

- Remember less is more, don't over-complicate an outfit
- Go for neutral shades - navy, white, black - and add a dash of colour with accessories
- Mix and match key investment pieces and add changes with seasonal accessories
- Add a personal quirky touch with one-off pieces of jewellery
